Glitter Chevron Nails

Good morning!
This is going to be a relatively quick post, as I have to get to work soon. Today's manicure is mostly based around this gorgeous nail polish from the Sally Hansen Gem Crush line called Big Money. I'm too lazy to go take a picture of the bottle right now, but this is what it looks like.

It's a gorgeous mix, with small flecks of light gold glitter, and larger chunks of lilac glitter. On it's own, it's opaque in three coats or more, but it is quite thick, so I like to layer it over Orly Rage, a lovely rose gold.

So when I was doing my nails yesterday, I decided to play on the lilac glitters, and combine it with Sephora by OPI It's Hippo to be Square. (seriously, who comes up with these names? What does that even mean?) So I broke out my scotch tape and created these simple V-gaps. I really like the look of them, actually, and the glitter matches quite nicely with the base color.

Polishes used:
Revlon Colorstay Base Coat
Sephora by OPI It's Hippo to be Square
Sally Hansen Gem Crush Big Money
Sally Hansen Insta-dry Topcoat

Well, I gotta get to work. See you soon!

Black & Silver Chevron Nails

This is a manicure I did a little while ago, hence the bad picture, but I really like the way it turned. It was my first time trying a tape mani, and it worked pretty well. I was inspired by a picture I saw on kellyvoo's instagram.

Colors used:
Sephora by OPI Don't Feed the Hand Models
OPI Black Onyx
Sally Hansen Silver Sweep

Sorry for the short post, my mom's been getting on my case all day to get off the internet.

See ya tomorrow!

Harry Potter Nails

Today's manicure was inspired by this video by missglamorazzi on youtube. I changed some of the patterns, but the concept is the same.

I loved this idea because I'm a huge Harry Potter geek, and having Harry Potter nails is super exciting for me.

Ok so I totally spaced and forgot to take a picture before I put on the other colors, but I started with my thumb painted black, my pointer finger painted red, my middle finger painted blue, my ring finger painted yellow, and my pinkie painted green (I'm not very happy with the green, it's not very slytherin-y). I then waited almost an hour for them to dry, applied strategic tape, and painted the gold, bronze, black, silver, and deathly hallows sign. (I had to get my little sister to do the deathly hallows sign on my right hand, I'm so not ambidextrous)

Nail polishes used:
Revlon Colorstay Basecoat
Thumb: OPI Black Onyx & Orly Instant Artist Striper in Crisp White
Pointer Finger: Sephora by OPI Sample Sale (I think) & China Glaze Passion
Middle Finger: Spoiled Your Fly's Down & China Glaze Poetic
Ring Finger: Sally Hansen Lightening & OPI Black Onyx
Pinkie: China Glaze Paper Chaser & Sally Hansen Silver Sweep

I love these nails and I refer to them as my "What I Would Have Worn To Leakycon Nails." Sigh.

Anyway. I should go.
Until next week.

City Skyline Nails

Hello again!

I just posted my sky manicure from last week, but we're going to pretend that I posted it a week ago, when I was still wearing it, and that seven whole days have gone by, and now here I am with this week's manicure. So hello. How was your week? Mine was splendid.

Alrighty then. Here is this week's manicure, inspired by this video by cutepolish on youtube. I had never tried ombre before, and I fell in love with this design when I saw the video, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. Armed with a few of my favorite polishes and a whole ton of free time, I attempted my first complicated-ish design, and I think it turned out pretty well.

Polishes used:
-Revlon Colorstay Base Coat
-Some white Orly polish, unknown name, for the base
-NYC Skin Tight Denim Creme (#115A) for the blue
-China Glaze Spontaneous for the purple
-OPI Black Onyx for the buildings
-Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Lightening for the windows
-Orly Instant Artist Striper in Crisp White for the moon
-Sally Hansen Quick Dry Topcoat

Here you can see the detail a little better.

I got a lot of compliments on this design the other day at a party, and its really simple to do.
I just wish it didn't wear off so quickly.
Anyway, it gives me an opportunity to try out a design I've been wanting to do for a while (;
See you in a few days!

Sky Nails

So here are my nails from last week.
I was watching this video by Michelle Phan right before I left to go camping, and I couldn't wait until I got home to paint it on my own nails. I did my nails before I even unpacked.
Sorry, I only took one picture, but I'm going to start taking more.

Polishes used:
-Revlon Colorstay Base Coat
-Sephora by OPI Natural Environ-mint
-Orly white (unknown name)
-Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Lightening
-Sally Hansen Quick Dry Top Coat

This was quite a short post, and I apologize for that. It is my first one, so please forgive me. I'm going to put up the manicure that I'm currently wearing, and then I'll be posting every week, unless I have a haul or something.

I would say that I hope you are all having a lovely day, but no one reads this blog so I'll just say goodbye.

Hello there!

Hi!
So I was just at work today, and I had this overwhelming urge to create a nail polish blog. No idea why. It was totally out of the blue.

Anyway, I should probably introduce myself.
My name is Alana. I just graduated from high school and I will be taking a gap year before attending college next fall.

I don't pretend to be any sort of nail polish expert, but its just something I like to do. I don't have as much as some people, only around 50 bottles (which is still a TON for a normal 18 year old girl), but I like experimenting, and because I "already belong to every other social media site possible," as so aptly put by a male friend of mine, I figured I would share my nail polish expeditions on the Internet.

So here I am. Nice to meet you.
